Srivijaya Empire

Srivijaya conquered the Saliendra Empire, that is when they began to rise. At their peak from the 7th to the 13th century, the Srivijaya empire ruled the Strait of Malacca and other areas around the islands of Sumatara, Borneo, and Java. They grew in wealth by taxing anyone that traveled through water. The Sryvijayas set their capital in Palembang, Sumatara. The capital, Palembang actually became a great center of buddhist learning.
